Google Art Project and Google Street Art

(This post contains no images as we don't want to be sued by Google, even though they should sponsor us for giving them blog inches...)

Firstly, Google brought you access to incredible close-up images of millions works held in collections of the world's best museums, via their online gallery Google Art Project. You can search by artist, collection, or type. Or there are certain areas in museums that have been mapped, so you can navigate your way around just liek Googlemaps. It's almost like being there (but of course nothing beats being there). .

Eg click here for a tour of the ground floor of  Musée d'Orsay

And here to see how close you can get to one of my favourite portraits (scroll for closeup).

Tattoo Art

'Jake and Dinos Chapman plan tattoo parlour show in home town of Hastings...'

Story here .

It raises questions:

Why are they crowd funding it? Are they short on cash?

Hastings... One for the summer road trip, maybe?  and

If you could choose any artist to tattoo you, who would you choose?

Studio Printmaking Thursday Year 1, 12th + 14th June

From Brian on Moodle

Dear Thursday Year 1 group,
I am looking forward to working with you again on Thursday 12th and Saturday 14th June.
We will be revisiting Studio-based Printmaking with a strong emphasis on your own self-generated personal practice, something you must be increasingly thinking about at this stage in your course. you need to come to the sessions having given some thought to where your particular areas of interest lie and what printmaking may bring to an exploration any of these ideas.
For some of you who wish to continue printmaking next year these two sessions should provide a valuable chance to re-cap on the basic processes. We can also discuss longer more complex print projects you may have in mind so come prepared to work in the sessions and also to talk about future print plans if this is relevant to you. For others who are not as drawn to print the sessions could still be useful as a way of looking at an idea from another angle, for instance you may have ideas you want to explore in painting that could benifit from the immediacy of monoprinting.
We will have the same equipment and materials as earlier this year. It would be a good idea to bring anything you may wish to refer to ie current sketchbooks.
Best regards
Brian
